I read an article where someone stated that he goes to church to socialize and support one another. Socialization and support alone should not be our focus. Some of us have other reasons for going to church. They go to church just so that when they are bereaved the church will support the family. Somebody goes to seek a miracle after which they stop.
Worshiping God is a commandment.
One of the ways we keep this commandment is to meet together to worship God and give Him thanks. Hebrews 10:25 says we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as we see the day approaching.
We go to church to listen to the word of God.
We are also strengthened when we are around other believers, we get encouraged by their faith, experiences and testimonies. Eternal life should be our goal.
The word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).
Hearing the word of God is important for your soul. You may be listening to good preaching but without living in close fellowship with the people, you may never really experience the help and hope Christ offers through faithful involvement in a local church.
