How can Goodness and Mercy Follow Us … when We Do Not Think GOOD

by | Jan 25, 2025 | Inspiration

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)
King David wrote this with trust in God. He knew he could not go wrong with God.
We recite this scripture often times yet our minds are not ready to accept goodness. We don’t think good, how can it come close?
Goodness, I understand is a ‘reflection of God’s transformative power. If we think goodness, wish for goodness, appreciate goodness, goodness will follow us. That transformative power of God will transform every situation into goodness for us.
Negative thoughts can become self fulfilling prophecies.
We can negatively predict somebody’s next line of action and it happens. Why don’t we try positive predictions so that good can come. Thinking good is a call for goodness to follow us. Even if we know how bad a person is towards us, we can start thinking good for them and that is what will happen. The good we think about them will cause them to be good towards us. ‘Do unto others what we want others to do unto us’ (Matthew 7:12). Goodness is powerful.
We think negative while expecting positive results. When we ask God for something and we still accept the thought that it may not work, we may not get it because we belittle the power of God. Let us always try to resist the negative thoughts and create in our minds positive thoughts for goodness to exist around us.
