The bible says faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen (Hebrew 11:1). Faith is belief in God. We have not seen him, yet we believe he exist. We believe in the things of God. We feed our faith on the word of God. The word of God builds our faith.

Faith is necessary in the Christian life. It sustains us. It gives us hope to wait for the promises of God. It helps us to be patient.

We hope to receive something we know we cannot have without God’s intervention. We can use faith to get so many things. but how do we apply it? If we are not able to apply it properly we will be disappointed. From my experience, I have come to understand that faith is not now and can never be now. It is built overtime.

One thing we need to know is that faith is not shortcut to processes of life. We need faith to go through life’s processes; without which faith will be useless. We cannot practice faith in isolation. We need to apply it to a situation to make it work. Faith without works is dead (James 2:14).

If I am believing God for a house; I hatch the idea, I pray towards it, circumstances come to test my faith to make me doubt, but I still believe God can do it and I receive it later, it means I worked on my faith. I built it.

Do not see faith as a short cut to life’s processes. Hebrews 6:12 says “that be ye not slothful but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”.

The God who gave us faith did not promise us a life without sweat or struggle. That is why we have seasons in life. At some stage in life you will experience dry season and then the rainy season. The enemy will attempt to bring upon you so many things which you need faith to stand against.

If you have to go through a process in life you need faith to sustain you to the end. The period set for the process does not change unless you choose to go ahead of God.

Some of the teachings on faith makes it difficult for us to accept certain situations that come our way.
