God Is A Guy

by | Sep 23, 2024 | Inspiration

The dictionary meaning of a guy is a man, or to ridicule. But these days, it has become a term used by the young ones; it refers to someone who may be ‘full of himself’ or who is good at something, smart, etc.

From this perspective, we can say that God is a ‘guy’. At His command, He created the universe and all that is in it. He created the sky which has been hanging since its creation and never comes down. Science will give you explanation to that but that is not all.

God creates things and he gives knowledge to human beings to understand how they work. He gives knowledge to the Doctors to know how the human system works and how they can be treated. He created the rainbow using colors and from that, science has taught us how to mix chemicals to get the colors that we want, to make beautiful things.

The sun and the moon know when they have to shine and when they have to go to sleep. The sea knows its boundary. Isn’t it wonderful when you see where some waters meet, I mean the estuary. They meet but they don’t mix. God is a guy. There is no searching of his understanding.

I can go on and on and on, but the picture I am trying to paint here is that God created all things because He knows that as human beings they will be of benefit to us. We will need them in our day to day activities.

Every one of them is useful. When we are able to combine them into something else, we are called experts, specialists, professionals, etc. We forget to be grateful to the one who created the raw materials and gave us knowledge as to how they can be used. You are a student; a young adult. You may be handsome. You may be beautiful. The opposite sex fall for you. You know stuff. Your peers adore you. Money is nothing to you now. You have connections so you think you are the guy.

When they are looking for smart people, they come for you. You are skillful in all you do. God placed those qualities in you not for evil but for a good purpose. If you are a skillful driver or rider, God did not give you that to become an armed robber’s driver.

You can out chase the Police so you think you are a guy. You think you are a guy because you are a computer wizard who can hack systems. Conning girls with your sweet talks does not make you a guy. Proverbs 31: 3 says do not give your strength to women. Dating multiple men has its own repercussions. Your beauty is for the glory of God.

God is the better guy. He is always ahead of you. Isaiah 55:9 that “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts then your thoughts.”

He only permits you to have your way just to let life teach you a lesson.

Job 5:18 says “For He wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also heal.”

He created you so he knows you better than yourself. He knows what goes on in your mind. Before you think of anything he already knows the step you want to take. He can frustrate your ways and make you helpless. “He disappointeth the devices of the crafty so their hands cannot not perform their enterprise”(Job 5:12).

You do not fear anybody because of the strength you think you have gained through juju. You think no bullet can kill you. In times of trouble you can vanish after reciting some words. All these have their expiry dates. They will fail you one day.

Do not bank your hopes on them. You are not a guy like you think. God is the better guy. He does not depend on anybody. He is His own man. The day you find yourself in a tight corner like in the days of Elijah where the fetish priests called their gods and they could not answer; God will show up for you to realize that truly he is the real guy. He can make you the guy that you want to be. His protection is perfect.

James 3:8 says draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

How do you draw near to God? Humble yourself and accept that without Christ you are nothing. Accept that He is the reason for your very existence. The bible says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Give Him your all. One good thing with Jesus is that He answers whenever we call. Ready to save, irrespective of the gravity of our sins. Even if you are murderer, He is so merciful; He can turn you into a new leaf. He will give you another chance.

Take your time. Slow down. Don’t trust yourself too much. God is the better guy. You cannot beat him. He is sovereign. All powerful. All knowing. Almighty.

He has laid a path for you where you will go round and come back to it. He knows the string to pull to get at you. Imagine yourself being the guy in the school thinking you have the whole world at your feet.

Just one little thing will make you useless in the eyes of the very people who hailed you. If you don’t know refer to the Nebuchadnezzar story in Daniel chapter 4:25-35. He was turned into a beast and lived in the forest for seven years until he acknowledged that the Lord is God. God put him back on the throne when he recognized that the power he had was given to him by God. God is the better guy.

Let me remind you that imprisonment bring some people back to God. Poverty brings some people back to God. Illnesses remind people that there is a God. God does all these because He loves you. He wants your attention, so He brings you to the wilderness where you will be alone. Where you will hear His voice when he talks to you.

Do not be swollen headed. Do not be proud. Ask Herod how the Lord commanded His angel to strike him when he made a speech which suggested to his people that he spoke like God.

Ask Pharaoh how God drowned him and his chariots, his pride in the red sea. God is the better guy. God can get you whenever He wants to, so acknowledge Him. Proverbs 3:6 says “In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path.” God is the better guy.

He used little David to kill Goliath with a small stone. Goliath thought nobody could kill him because he had put his trust in the metallic dress he was wearing.

David said, in Psalm 139:1-3; “Where can I flee from your presence. If I go up to the heavens, you are there; If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” The bible says His eyes runs to and fro throughout the whole earth…. (2 Chronicles 16:9).

In Proverbs 3:5, the bible instructs us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. Do not lean on our own understanding. If you trust in the Lord, you will credit Him with all your successes and He will be more than obliged to give you more. God knows the way to take and we just have to follow.

God is the better guy. He works in ways you cannot see.

Humility under God will bring out the guy in you.
