God is Not Fair

by | Jul 29, 2024 | Inspiration

God is not fair, but he is a just God.

Deuteronomy 32:4 says “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he”.

Fair” refers to an action that treats people as they deserve to be treated.
Being just” refers to an action justified under the circumstances. “

If God were fair, he would not have taken the least person among the great to make him greater. He wouldn’t have made David, a shepherd become king over Israel when he had good looking brothers who were more mature than he was. He wouldn’t have made Jephthah, a harlot’s son, rule over his people.

Saul becoming king was fair. As 1 Samuel 9:2 describes him, “… a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people”.
The description the bible gave of Saul tells us that he was fit for a king. He was taller than all in Israel, he commanded respect because of his height and looks. He was more handsome than all in Israel, but did he meet God’s expectations?

That is why God won’t be fair but just, because he knows the end from the beginning, he knows our hearts, He knows what he can do with us at any point in time. Whatever he does with us is strategic. Let us not blame others when good things happen to them. Rather, rejoice with them and God will bless you.

Like Esther (Esther 4:14), God places people in positions to handle situations that may arise in the future; be they Christians, Muslims, etc. Esther was a Jew, a slave. How she got married to the king was orchestrated by God. If she did not become the Queen at the time Haman planned to execute the Jews, they would have all been killed. God knows who to work with, so when someone is chosen to do something, do not be angry, it is the favour of God that has found the him. He knows everyone’s capabilities. And he rewards us too. We may have done something to guarantee his reward. Or he can just decide to bless just glorify his name. Everybody’s time will come. You may have also been appointed to do something, but it is not yet time. You being better than someone does not matter to him.

God has his own way of doing things; and it will not look fair to you because you don’t know his ways.
He wouldn’t have allowed the devil to touch Job when he knew very well, he was a good servant. Wasn’t Abraham his friend? He would tell Abraham everything, yet he withheld his wife’s womb for so many years. He is just and he works with time. Time always justifies God’s actions.

Moses was close to God yet when he sinned, he was not forgiven. Was he fair? How many times haven’t we sinned against God? And how many times haven’t we been forgiven?

We think some people do not deserve certain privileges, but in God’s eyes, they do that is why they have it. When did he come? I know better than him, why aren’t they giving it to me but her. God is packaging your own so be glad for the one who’s own has arrived and you will be smiling. Every decision comes from the Lord.

People resort to a whole lot of things when they find themselves in such situations. If you get good things prematurely, you cannot enjoy it. You may find yourself fighting God which will not be good for you.

Be glad when good things happen to others. Your own may delay but it may come in a grand style.
