Mistakes Are Inevitable

by | Aug 17, 2024 | Inspiration

Mistakes are inevitable in the life of every human being. Some mistakes are good for us but how do we handle them? Both pardonable and unpardonable mistakes. Proverbs 24: 16 states that ‘ For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.

‘ As the saying goes, ‘experience is the best teacher”. God allows us to make mistakes just to remind us that we are not immortals. We do not know everything. Only God knows everything and that makes him perfect. Our experiences in life come from the mistakes we make. When we say someone is experienced in something, try to get close and find out how many mistakes he has made.

When you make a mistake, do not worry, it has to occur to teach you new things: to serve as a guide or warning. No one wants to repeat the mistakes they make because the result it brings is bad. Mistakes come with a cost. Moses with all the anointing God gave him, made a mistake and paid for it dearly. God was with him alright. I am sure he would not have repeated it if he was given a second chance. The wise sayings in the book of proverbs, Songs of Solomon and Ecclesiastes were all borne out of peoples mistakes.

But how do you handle the mistakes you make? God gives us the grace to start all over again when we make mistakes. If it is a mistake which led you to sin, Jesus forgives, so repent and ask for forgiveness. If it is something else, He makes a way when you rely on Him for directions so you do not repeat the mistake. Sometimes you would have to try again and again before you get it right. It is all part of the learning process.

Our inability to accept mistakes is pride in disguise. Those who cannot accept that they can make mistakes often try to blame it on others or they try to justify their actions. This attitude makes us live a life full of lies. At the back of our minds we know it is a mistake but we just do not want to admit it in front of others; because of the way we condemn them when they make mistakes.

Just let yourself go and accept that we are all liable to mistakes. That way, you will not feel like you are a failure when you find yourself in such a situation. Take responsibility when you make a mistake. Stop making yourself perfect and live a free life; that kind of attitude puts you under unnecessary pressure. It all boils down to humility. Humble yourself. If you are humble, you are quick to admit your wrongs. God exalts the humble.
