Our Lord Jesus Christ said in Luke 14:30 that the Prince of this world is coming but he has nothing in him. Jesus is light and there is no darkness in him.
You and I have dark spots that we have to clean in order not to attract the devil. He is darkness so that is his comfort zone. So if we create darkness around us he will come and dwell there.
What we think, what we perceive is enough darkness for satan to dwell in us. We are bitter, we are envious, we are jealous, we wish bad for others, we are angry, we bear grudges, we hate, we despise, we gossip, we bear false witness, we scheme, manipulate, we lie, we steal, we are hypocrites, we are mean, we are disrespectful.
All these keep darkness around us and the devil takes advantage of it. They are the doors through which he gets to us. He has something in us because we bear grudges. It’s like the housefly which is attracted to bad smells. As soon as it smells it, it traces it to its location.
That is how we are to the devil. That is why God in his wisdom is instructing us not to do all these because the consequence is that satan will have a foothold in our lives. Isaiah 27:4 says ‘fury is not in me, who would set the Briers and thorns against me in battle…… If there is fury in us he will get us.
These are the things we should be mindful of. If we are fond of doing things we know are not good let us remember that we are creating a comfort zone for satan. He will not leave unless we stop it. We can only stop it with the help of the Holy Spirit. He is our help.
All of our help come from the Lord. We need to give way for the light to shine through us. We know ourselves, as Christians, let’s work on ourselves to show ourselves approved to God ( II Timothy 2:15). People go through deliverance but the problem persist, why is that? That darkness is still there. That door is still open to satan.
Our deliverance may be complete when we stop being mean, when we stop being bitter, when we stop being hateful, etc. We cannot even hear God’s voice because our hearts and minds are crowded with darkness.
The door we opened to Jesus Christ as Christians are closed. Jesus still has to knock hard to be heard.
