Vengeance is the Lords

by | Nov 29, 2024 | Inspiration

Have you ever come to a place where you wish something bad would happen to people who have done you wrong, but nothing happens?

It’s natural to feel upset, angry, or hurt when someone wrongs us. In those moments, it’s not uncommon to wish for something negative to happen to the person who caused us harm. This feeling is often driven by a desire for justice, revenge.
You feel pain when you see them. You get angry, you wish God would do something to them, yet all you see is they are happy, and still going strong.
It is because vengeance is not ours but the Lords. And he executes his vengeance in his own time, His own way. When you have decided to let go and moved on. That is when God takes vengeance not when you are still holding the grudge.
Romans 12 :19 says ‘Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord’
We are called to leave vengeance to God and focus on forgiveness and loving our neighbours and overcoming evil. If you hold it, you haven’t given it to God yet. He may choose to extend mercy to those who have wronged us just as he has extended mercy to us. May God give us the spirit of forgiveness so that we can easily forgive when we are wronged and make peace wherever we find ourselves. Sometimes God speaks for us when we keep quiet.
If you try to take your own vengeance, it means taking matters into our own hands; undermining God’s sovereignty which may go against us. People can innocently step on your toes.
Turning to juju or evil activities will make God angry with you. Especially when you are a Christian. You know God yet when you are pained, you want to do as you please. Remember King Saul, he made things worse with God when he decided to consult Samuel’s spirit.
Avenge me of my enemies’ is a prayer. God’s vengeance is the best. Luke 18: says ‘I tell you that he will avenge them speedily ……’
