God has you in mind and will visit you just as He did Mary. In Luke 1:28, the angel of the Lord appeared to Mary when the time was right to give her the good news.
Mary conceived Jesus through the spoken word and gave birth at the appointed time, fulfilling prophecy.
The news of Jesus’ birth however, threatened King Herod, who felt his power, status, and influence were at risk.
This tells us how good news for one person can be bad news for another. As seen in Matthew 2:1-12, Herod’s fear led him to order the massacre of all male children under two years in Bethlehem.
Similarly, you are highly favored, and your angel will appear to you, regardless of your circumstance and your location. When he does, be wise and discerning about how much information you share about yourself and your accomplishments.
Even Joseph’s brothers felt threatened by his dreams and King Saul by David’s success. We may also encounter opposition from those who feel intimidated or overshadowed by our ‘goodnews’. This can manifest as envy, hatred, resentment, or negativity, often rooted in fear, insecurity, or a sense of inadequacy (Genesis 37:5-11, 1 Samuel 18:8-11).
Just as Herod felt threatened by Jesus’ birth and sought to eliminate Him, we may face challenges from those who perceive our growth and success as a threat to their own power, status, or influence. But with faith and perseverance, we can overcome these obstacles and achieve our God-given destiny. In 1 Samuel 10 :16, we saw how Saul managed a very sensitive information about himself ‘Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.’
Saul only told his uncle what he needed to know about the missing sheep of his father and nothing else.
If we could be wise and discerning about how much information we share about ourselves, we would not bring unnecessary attacks on ourselves.
Let us pray that,
-the Holy Spirit will come upon us and the power from on high will overshadow us just like Mary, to fulfil our destiny.
- May God protect and guide us, just as He did Jesus and His family.
-May He protect us from our ‘Herods’ when they come after us (Matthew 2:1-12) after receiving the goodnews. - May God open a door of escape to ‘Egypt’ for us.
-Like Joseph, may our dreams come to pass even on a foreign land.
-May our enemies be defeated, and may those who oppose us come to acknowledge our greatness, just as Joseph’s brothers did in Egypt.
-May those that are after us be removed from their places of power and authority. Luke 1:52 says ‘He has put down the mighty from their seats and exalted them of low degree.
David succeeded Saul, and Mordecai replaced Haman, demonstrating how God can elevate His chosen ones to positions of authority and power.
